Here is a nice Antique Black Forest Wall Clock with Barometer for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep it for yourself!
Wow folks, these beauties do not come to the market very often. Here is a nice mahogany cased Black Forest Wall Clock. Beautiful detailing to the carvings on the clock case. Nice topper on this clock. Is affixed to the case with 2 brass screws. Not sure of the maker. The clock is most likely of German origination.
Any help in identifying the maker would be appreciated. Your identity would be kept anonymous. Thanks.
We would estimate that this clock dates to the latter 1870s to the 1890s. The clock door is securely attached to the case by the hinges. The latch and eye screw are in place on the clock door. Beautiful thick wood columns on the clock on the sides of the center section have a good finish on them and are securely attached to the clock case.
Nice looking clock face on this clock. Wood with applied metal or porcelain numbers. The clock hands match and look appropriate to the clock.
Nice older brass movement here. The wind springs feel sound when keyed. There is no pendulum or rod with this clock, so cannot determine if running or not. The clock movement does have a nice beat to it when wound and sitting on a wall.
Nice barometer in the piece. Cannot say if operational or not. The piece behind it in the frame is not there, just held in place by tape now. Might have been a thermometer in the middle section that is no longer there.
We have not had the clock long enough to set up and determine if running correctly or not. Nice, what appears to be original movement in this clock. The cable for the lead weight looks worn, so not going to attempt to run for an extended period. The clock was just serviced by our Clock Doc. All back together. So, selling this clock in not running condition. The clock will come with a newer wind key.
The Antique Black Forest Wall Clock & Barometer stands 38.5" (28.5" w/o topper) tall, by 16-5/8" across, by 3.5" wide. The clock face is 6-3/8" across. The clock will be partially disassembled to more safely ship it to you. So, expect some reassembly. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
As can be expected when dealing with an antique clock, some adjustments may be needed after shipping to get the clock re-running correctly again as they can be very delicate. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks. Please ask any questions relating to this matter, before you decide to purchase it.
We can ship this Banjo clock to you. We will also offer to deliver the clock to you, or the buyer is welcome to make their own packing and shipping arrangements as well. We have had a lot of clients use blanket ship companies like Antiques Express or one of the national moving chains for higher end furniture pieces like this one.
