Here is a nice Antique Jerome & Company Clock for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift or keep for yourself!
Nice Jerome & Company Clock here. Dates to the circa 1870s, Jerome & Company of New Haven CT are noted on the paper label inside the case door.
Beautiful exposed wood case here. What makes the clock interesting besides beautiful is the decorated wafers on the front door of the clock. Jerome got a patent on what was one of the first use of composite/plastic. Did it as too costly to carve, so provided a way to mass produce and make these nice accent pieces cheaply.
Most of the paper label is still inside of the case. The two glass pieces in the door are intact, no cracks or blistering. The top part is clear with a reverse painted gold and black design on it. The lower glass has a beautiful reverse painted flowering and leafing on it.
The beautiful wood case is intact and has a nice look to it. The hinged door is still securely attached to the case and has the latch in place. Wood base and back plates are intact, no damage.
Nice elegant looking hands on the clock that match. Beautiful hand painted tin face with roman numerals. Some finish and paint loss. Paint loss and cracking of the paint on the face. Nice gold colored center trim piece in the middle of the face which is for setting the alarm on the clock. The alarm movement is not with the clock. Beautiful brass movement here.
Both springs feel sound when keyed. The clock strikes the hours on the hour. The clock will come with a wind key. Has a vintage pendulum bob with the clock. This clock is being sold in running & striking condition.
The clock stands 16-3/8" tall, by 11.5" across, by 4-15/16" wide. The clock face is 5" across. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
As can be expected when dealing with an antique clock, some adjustments may be needed after shipping to get the clock re-running correctly again as they can be very delicate. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks. Please ask any questions relating to this matter, before you decide to purchase it.
