A nicely done Antique Seth Thomas Shelf Clock from the mid-1920s for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself! Two of these models recently sold on the EBTH site for $410 and $321 and the cases and faces were not nearly in as as nice condition as this one is.
A unique and uncommon Seth Thomas Clock here with the art nouveau case. This clock appears was made by the Seth Thomas Clock Company. The metal case is very well done. Nice design on the front of the case. The case has a bronzed look to it. Shows copper finish along the bottom where some wear.
Beautiful antique white colored paper face on the clock. The glass over the face is intact. The insect between the face and glass comes at no additional cost!
The case has a bronzed lacquer look to it. Some finish loss and scratching to the case from age, still looks good. The hands match and look appropriate to the clock. The minute, hour, seconds and alarm face hands are in place. A small ding on the left side of the case. A couple of hairlines on the top front of the case from age.
The clock was made in the mid-1910s to early 1920s period. The mechanical movement sounds good, been running since we acquired it. The issue with this clock is that it take a wind key that goes onto a screw. Only one wind key with it, so have to take off to wind the alarm or time spring. The alarm function also works. The clock is being sold in running condition.
The clock stands 9.25" tall, by 7-1/8" across, by 3-1/8" wide. The clock face is 3-5/8" across. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
The pictures provided both complement and supplement the listing description, so please look at them very closely as well. With old items, there is no way one can capture all the little imperfections in words, so the two media are meant to be the full description.
As can be expected when dealing with a vintage clock, some adjustments may be needed after shipping to get the clock re-running correctly again as they can be very delicate. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks. Please ask any questions relating to this matter, before you decide to purchase it.
