Here is a nice William Brassey Hole Etching for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself!
Nice older etching here by William Hole here. Has the pressed in perimeter that you see with an engraving as well. The piece is entitled, " A Straggler of the Chevalier's Army". The piece is signed within the plate. The Etching dates to the early 1880s.
Some minor browning to the paper, but still looks good. No tears or repairs that we can ascertain.
Nicely framed and matted. In a gold colored wood frame that shows some finish loss across the entire frame and chipping in places, most notably in the corners. Interesting how the matting is wider on the bottom than on the top. That must have been a special request, eh?! The glass over the etching/engraving is intact, no cracks or blistering.
The William Brassey Hole Engraving in the frame is 14.25" tall, by 16.25" across, by .75" wide. The print within the matting is 6-5/8" tall by 11.25" across. There is paper backing on the back of the frame that is intact. A short biography of the artist is affixed to the backing paper.
