ALL BACK TOGETHER NOW AND RUNNING! Here is a nice Antique Banjo Clock for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself! This is a weight driven clock.

Wow folks, these beauties do not come to the market very often. Here is a nice mahogany cased Time Only Banjo Clock. Not sure of the maker. Only clue is that the back plate of the movement is stamped with the initials "AGH". Is this an early Albert Howard clock, not just marked with the Boston notation as well?

Some information about the Howard Clock chronology, not this clock specifically - "Albert was brother of Edward Howard and apprenticed under him from 1855. The clock was probably produced after Davis left Howard, and before Albert left to produce clocks on his own in 1858, at 109 Washington St."

The case's beading trim and the movement also look similar to a William Cummens clock (per another party's input), but again cannot say for sure.

Any help in identifying the maker would be appreciated. Your identity would be kept anonymous. Thanks.

This fine antique wall clock is being offered to you at a price below what you would see in a high end auction house or clock shop, as we have been selling clocks for over 35 years. We can therefore better control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don't have the overhead that the higher end houses and clock shops have.

We would estimate that this clock dates to the latter 1850s to the 1860s. The clock face door and the pendulum door are securely attached to the case by the hinges. There is a nice wood bezel. The latch and eye screw are in place on the clock face and pendulum door. Beautiful thick brass rails on the clock on the sides of the center section have a good finish on them and are securely attached to the clock case. The trim unit below the pendulum door area is a little loose from the rest of the clock case and will need some tightening attention. Some earlier owners drilled holes in the lower back of the case to secure to the wall. There is an older J Caldwell repair tag affixed to the inside of the case on the lower left side.

Nice looking clock face on this clock. Painted antique white with black numbering. See stamp on the back of the clock face that looks like Clock Maker Orange Street, Media, PA on it. No other notations of maker on the front or back of the clock face. Looks to have some age to it. It has a painted on face on metal, not some paper face here. The clock hands are with the clock as are the screws that hold it in place.

Beautiful black and gold reverse painted glass on the center throat. Great looking wood pendulum rod, painted black on the part of stick that face out, with an older looking nice brass bob that hangs from a smaller wood shaft on it. The suspension spring is in place. A ding in the brass bob.

Nice older brass movement here. The lead weight is with the clock and the hook is in place. The flat glass over the clock face is intact, no cracks or blistering.

Nice looking and unique gold gilt lacquered spread winged Eagle brass finial on the top of the clock. Nice, what appears to be original movement in this clock. The cable for the lead weight is in place. The clock was just serviced by our Clock Doc. All back together now. So, selling this clock now in running condition. The clock will come with a newer wind key.

The Antique Banjo Clock stands 39.5" (37" w/o eagle finial) tall, by 10" across, by 4" wide. The clock face is 6.5" across. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.

As can be expected when dealing with an antique clock, some adjustments may be needed after shipping to get the clock re-running correctly again as they can be very delicate. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks. Please ask any questions relating to this matter, before you decide to purchase it.

We can ship this Banjo clock to you. Shipping is expensive as the clock would need to be shipped in two packages with the heavy lead weight.

We will also offer to deliver the clock to you, or the buyer is welcome to make their own packing and shipping arrangements as well. We have had a lot of clients use blanket ship companies like Antiques Express or one of the national moving chains for higher end furniture pieces like this one. Our clients also use the local UPS store for their packing and shipping needs. We would assist with the removal and separate packing of the movement, pendulum and weight if you wish.

We will also offer to deliver the Clock within 200 miles of Wilmington, DE one way. Price would be $.70 per mile for the round trip delivery plus any tolls/parking fees. So, for example, if 40 miles to your property and $10 in tolls, it would be $66 (2*40*.70+$10) for seller to deliver item to you. Should we agree to deliver this clock to you, and you decide to return the item, for whatever reason, such delivery charges are not refundable.

Make sure that this clock meets your needs and requirements before deciding to acquire it. The item can be returned, there is a 10% restocking fee to do so. So, please carefully review all the attached pictures, ask all the questions you have, come see in person or send a friend to see the item on your behalf, prior to deciding to acquire it. Don't be shy to make an offer, we are always open to reasonable suggestions!
