Here is a great clock for your buying consideration. Recently acquired it at an estate sale. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself!
This Ingraham clock has a beautiful maple case. Probably made in the latter 1870s. Looks to be a Phoenix model. One of the circular wood trim wafers on the top right of the case is missing. Great reverse stenciling done probably by stencil on the glass below the clock face. It does show some wear.
The clock's front door is still securely attached to the case by its' hinges. The latch on the door is there and works. The clear glass and stenciled glass in the door is intact, no cracking or blistering. The clock has a very intricately designed gold colored pendulum.
The clock has a paper face that shows some wear and brown spotting. The Ingraham name is also noted on the bottom of the clock face. The hands match and look appropriate to the clock. The makers name, " E Ingraham & Co., Bristol CT" is impressed into the inside of the case below the pendulum. There is no mention of the maker name on any other label or the clock face.
The clock both runs and strikes, so being sold in running condition The clock strikes the number of hours on the hour. This is an 8 day movement. Clock has a unique pendulum that has a dial and needle on it for speed adjustment of how fast clock runs. Needle moves manually, but not as the adjustment screw is turned. The pendulum dial has a patent date on it of December 1877 on it. Noted the leafing trim above the bob.
The clock, time and strike springs all feel sound when keyed. The clock will come with a winding key. The clock stands 19.75" tall, by 12.25" across, by 4-5/8" wide. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
As can be expected when dealing with an antique clock, some adjustments may be needed after shipping to get the clock re-running correctly again as they can be very delicate. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks. Please ask any questions relating to this matter, before you decide to purchase it.
