Here is a great vintage French look cartel wall clock for your buying consideration. Recently acquired it at an estate sale. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself. This clock probably dates to the early 1950s to as late as the early 1960s.
Great looking patinated gilt bronze lacquered case on this one with a very nice gold colored finish. All the trim seems intact. I see no broken or repaired pieces. The top of the case has a bow on it. There is leafing on the metal case around the clock face. The finish on the clock appears to be original, not redone which makes it more collectible and valuable.
The clock face has a convex piece of glass over it that is intact in its' bezel. The glass was loose, but just serviced by Clock Doc and securely in bezel again and the loose bezel issue was also addressed and corrected, not tightly attached to case. The black colored hands match and look appropriate to the clock. They seem to just be pressed on to the arbor. I just have taped holding the bezel closed over the clock face in the pics due to the issues I have noted here that need attention. No screw or pin that holds them on. The clock was recently serviced by Clock Doc and is in running condition. Clock does not have a way to regulate the speed of the movement and it is running a little slow.
There is minor surface scratching to the glass. The bezel is securely attached to the clock case. The enamel face of the clock looks great with just minor wear. "Buney" can be seen very prominently on the clock face. Buney is probably the jeweler that sold this clock. Circle Watch Corp. of England whom made the movement was most likely the maker of the clock as well.
The roman numerals on the enamel clock face are black colored. The clock movement is English and made by Circle Watch Corporation. The spring feels sound when keyed. This is an 8 day key wound time movement. This is a time only clock, no strike or chiming.
The clock is in running condition. The clock will come with a modern winding key. The clock is 20.5" tall, by 12" across, by 3-5/8" wide. Let us know if you have any question or need any additional pictures..
As can be expected when dealing with an antique/vintage clock, some adjustments may be needed after shipping to get the clock re-running correctly again as they can be very delicate. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks. Please ask any questions relating to this matter, before you decide to purchase it.
Make sure that this clock meets your needs and requirements before deciding to acquire it. The item can be returned, there is a 10% restocking fee to do so. So, please carefully review all the attached pictures, ask all the questions you have, come see in person or send a friend to see the item on your behalf, prior to deciding to acquire it. Don't be shy to make an offer, we are always open to reasonable suggestions!
