Exquisite hand fan from the Victorian era ~ early 1900s.
"DO NOT FAIL TO VISIT M. Carranza Fan Store and Curiosities 119 Obispo St. Habana"
This is a miniature advertising fan, the reverse side features a brightly colored chromo-lithographic bullfighting scene with glitter adorning the garments of the lead bullfighters.
This is made of paper on wooden sticks that are 4.5" long; the outer ones being inscribed "Habana"
From Cuba, circa 1900
In June of 1993 (nearly 20 years ago now) Christie's in London had a hammer price of $154 on one of these, which was low for their estimated value of $155 to $233, which translates to approximately $248-373 in today's value.
This would be an exquisite gift: for a vintage hand fan collector, or for a descendant of a Cuban family, or, for a collector who specializes in bull-fighting memorabilia.
This will be shipped in a box to protect it in transit.
