This fun red white and blue with green floral print is featured on this vintage 1960s (possibly earlier) swimsuit/playsuit.
The front has centered princess seaming from top edge to hem. Just below the waist, there is a piped top edge pocket on each side from the center princess seam to the side seam.
In the back there are elasticized side panels from top edge to waist which really help create a nice fit.
Piped along top front edge, and along top of pockets.
This has a center back zipper, metal, Talon.
Measurements translate to a contemporary size small to medium. We suggest comparing measurements of a suit of your own that fits the way you like, to our measurements in order to best determine fit.
Measurements are:
18” across front plus 16” (at rest, up to) 20” across the partially shirred back for a bust of 34” (at rest) up to 38” at most.
27” at rest, up to 32” waist
Hip 42”
The inseam is 2”.
Length from underarm to hem: 20”
The shoulder straps are 1/2” wide with buttonholes places at 14.5” and 16.” Depending on your waist length, you may be able to wear the straps straight up and over, or you might be able to criss cross them. For sunning, the straps can be unbuttoned and slipped inside the suit.
This is lined across the entire front and from the waist down, in white. The leg openings of the lining are elasticized, the leg openings of the outer swimsuit are faced (in white) and hemmed flat. This gives more of a playsuit look, rather than strictly swimwear.
This feels like all cotton, there are no fiber labels, and there is not a maker’s label, either.
This is pristine, and overall in excellent condition with the only flaw located at the bottom of the zipper, looks like it may have got stuck in the zip at one time or another as there are a couple of frayed threads there. This is not distracting, but present.
