This pretty winter skirt and top ensemble is made of a deep merlot maroon colored velveteen and is complimented with antiqued silver and black domed buttons with tiny floral centers.
The skirt is a flattering, simply flared a-line with a side zipper and button closure.
The short-sleeved top has a jewel neckline (and button front), and features gorgeous puffed and tacked sleeve caps, inspired by sleeves of the 1940s, with horizontal corded seaming all the way around the bodice, and additional floral and feathered paisley embroidery on the front.
We’ve now had more than a few vintage vendors say they believe this is true 1940s vintage, however in the 1970s, clothing manufacturers and pattern makers were heavily influenced by 1940s designs, so we are playing it safe and dating to the 1970s, it could possibly be earlier, though.
