In the 60s, home decor took a turn towards whimsicality, romance, and the past. This metal wall hanging is a stylized old world mandolin with a rounded belly and slender neck, and has a shabby matte black painted finish.

This is dated as 1968 and marked "Hoda", which was a company that manufactured many home decor products, some plastic, others metal; all highly sought after, not only for period film and movie sets, but for kitschy home and office decor, as well.

This is sturdy and solid, it does not bend, therefore, it is a bit more weighty than some wall hangings from that era. Most likely this is pot metal.

Estimated at about 24" by 10" (we'll add exact measurements when we have it in our hands again).

Typically, most finishes of the 60s were antique finished; we did find guitar and mandolins by Hoda on google, and most of them are a gold and black antique finish, so we're pretty sure this has been altered (from it's original), and, since it has been, we would suggest considering painting it to suit your own needs.

This sort of decor is associated with Bohemian, hippie life styles.

We've shown it with a couple of Big Eyed Prints from the era (prints are not included).
