Davy! Davy Crockett! King of the Wild Frontier!
Davy Crockett was a five-part film series which aired on ABC from 1954-1955 in one-hour episodes as a Disney show. It stars Fess Parker as real-life frontiersman Davy Crockett and Buddy Ebsen as his friend, George Russel.
The Walt Disney Company was surprised at the broad public popularity of the show , but they capitalized on it's success by licensing the sale of various types of Crockett collectibles, including coonskin caps, bubble gum cards and even household goods like BED CLOTHES for a kid's room!
This is a lightweight cotton (possibly a blend) in a natural creamy white with brown print. Davy is wearing his coonskin cap and fringed frontier outfit, carrying his long rifle.
This measures 70" across x 100", which is long enough for a "pillow tuck", and wide enough to act as dust ruffles on each side, too.
There is piping around the mattress edges.
As we were slipping this over the bed to photograph it, we did find a few tiny small random spots (see images) and 1 short opening along the piping which is pretty remarkable if this were actually used by a little child in their room. We have not (yet) attempted to spot clean this or launder it yet.
Also, we noticed three manufacturer's printing flaws where the fabric must have had a few small wrinkles in it when it was printed, as there is a break in the print by: his right eye, along the letter "D", and at his left ankle.
Even though Davy Crockett is not currently popular, this is (in our opinion) a really neat idea for a way to decorate a kid's room; perhaps a way to introduce some of our American history to your children.
