This lovely metal mesh purse is tiny and features a cream, gold and black harlequin enamel print on the front and back, a metal chain fringe hem, and a floral vine raised motif decorating the edge of the frame, both front and back.
It has been suggested this is from the Art deco era; Art Deco was an international decorative style than ran from 1919 to 1939 that was initially known as "le style moderne" or "Jazz Moderne.”
The frame measures 2 and 7/8” across the top, the sides of the frame are 1 and 3/8” to the bottom of the hinge.
From top of kiss lock clasp to bottom of fringe at center: 5 and 3/4”
The chain handle is 9.75” from frame to frame
This could only hold a credit card or two, a bit of cash, maybe a lipstick, not much else. At the time, perhaps a calling card could be slipped from this, too.
There are no stamps or marks on the inside of frame; this is sometimes where maker’s marks are found.
This is unlined.
Condition: One of the fringes is missing, two of them are shorter than the rest. This is not a distracting issue, but worth mentioning. Otherwise, this appears to be in excellent condition.
Selling as found, pricing lower, accordingly.
