This tiny vintage dress from the 40s features quality craftsmanship including the triple darted elbows, covered buttons with bound buttonholes and quadruple tucked sleeve caps that include small shoulder pads.
The bodice buttons up the front, and has princess darting for the front and back which provides a nice body hugging look; in addition, the left side seam has snap closures with a hook and eye at the waist.
This has a dropped waistline and tiered skirt with a wide bias seam tape finished hem: this is usually indicative of trying to get the hem as long as possible, so most likely it was let down from it's original length. Now we know that, we can also detect a very slight line 3.25" above the hem line, which, most likely, was the original length.
The fabric is a lovely lightweight twill weave woolen; not sure if it is a blend, or not, as there are no labels for this.
Our mannequin is too large for this, so we apologize for the gaps; but we wanted to show it on a body, rather than just on a hanger.
