This lovely summer dress by American designer, Anne Fogarty is so sheer, so lightweight, so comfortable! it is designed in a 1950s fit and flare sleeveless silhouette featuring a slightly scooped neckline, dart-fitted bodice and flared skirt.
The fabric is a dreamy, sheer cotton voile, printed with adorable tiny red and white polka dots framed with exotic, ethnic stripes of black and cream, manipulated to lay horizontally across the bustline (making it appear wider), with vertical striping in the upper skirt, and a fantastic border at the hem.
And, this is beautifully crafted: the skirt is one single length of fabric, meeting at the center back seam (no side seams!), the arms eyes and neckline are bias tape finished, and the waist line is reinforced with bias tape, as well.
Within the striping of the print is the Anne Fogarty signature, dating this to the 1980s.

B = 32"
shoulder point to shoulder point: 14.5"
15" long from center back of neck to waist
37.5" from center back of neck to hem
114" sweep of hem
These translate to a modern size 2, although typically our mannequin is a size 6, and this fits her perfectly.
Condition: this has been freshly hand laundered and hung to dry. It is in excellent condition. The only odd thing we found, is that the hem has a single turn, and is stitched by machine. That suggests this was possibly let down at some time, however, there are no lines or stitch marks to reinforce that supposition.
Talon zipper, metal pull, nylon teeth.
