This vintage late 80s evening dress is made of a deep midnight blue/royal purple/black sharkskin sheen iridescent satin that is perfect to wear for holiday parties that will soon be here!
The bodice is fully lined and boned, and has princess seaming for a flattering, body hugging fit.
From the underarm to dropped waist seam: 10" long.
from the underarm to the hem: 32" long
at the bottom of the stays is where we're measuring for the "waist", which is 30"
This has 3 self-fabric rosettes surrounded by gathers: these are spaced asymmetrically around the skirt of the dress.
The skirt has multiple layers:
The top layer is satin, it's shorter in the front than the back, it measures 22" long from the widows peak to the hem in the center front), and 36" long in the center back.
The 2nd layer is satin also.
Then there are three layers of lace, and netting for fullness including a ruffled hem. This is also shorter in the front (18" long ) than in the back (26" long )
11.5" nylon netting
11" fine netting
We've included an image of it inside out to help show the layers better.
the shoulder straps are 18" long
This has a center back zipper: Coats and Clark, metal pull, nylon teeth.
There are no tags or fiber labels on this. The satin's fiber content, we assume is a synthetic, most likely polyester, or a blend, while the netting, most likely, is nylon.
We have lightened many of the photos to show detail better. This is a very deep, dark blue-ish purpley-black color.
Condition: excellent with a note about the shoulder straps: in our opinion, this looks best with them worn off shoulder, however, they could/may be worn on shoulder, if one wishes to. We have not had this cleaned (our local dry-cleaner recently ruined a couple of dresses for us), however this is remarkably clean with no odors, no stains, no issues.
Now, as wearable as this is for evening, we also love the idea of wearing this as a costume for a Dance Hall Girl from the wild west! add a sassy black feather in your hair, black fishnet stockings and granny boots, and a black hand fan, maybe opera length black gloves, too, and you have a really fun, really attractive way to spend Halloween, or, to utilize for a theater presentation.
