Fabulous two-piece turquoise cotton patio dress set, with fresh white and sparkling gold ric rac and fret motif braid trim.
This has a 3/4 length dolman sleeve with double darted elbow, classic wing collar, and tiered massively-flared skirt. There are two fitting darts in the front bodice, and single darts in the back bodice. The top measures about 40-44" at the bust (hard to measure specifically with the dolman cut), and the sleeves are
24" from the center back of the neck to the sleeve hem.
It is 21" long from the center back to the hem.
The skirt has a 1 1/2" wide waistband,
and it is 26" around, but it does have a bit of extra fabric on the end, so if desired, this could be let out a little at the waist. If you have a good seamstress? the waistband could be extended even more, but we recommend a professional to handle it properly.
This is 29" long from the top of the waistband to the hem of the skirt, and
the sweep of the hem is an incredible 216"!!!! (yes, that's just 8" short of a 20 FOOT sweep!)
These sets are even more terrific, because you CAN wear them separately, of course; they're pretty perfect for ANY western or cowboy party, or parade, or rodeo...and we think they're FABulous with a hat and cowgirl boots...in Vegas! (VLV)
And although the waist band already has decorative trim, this COULD be worn with a huge white or gold glittering belt for even more visual impact.
The label is:
"Faye Creations Patio Fashions Tucson, Arizona"
Condition: amazing. It has been freshly laundered, the neckline is remarkably clean, and so are the sleeve hems, which are the two areas that typically are the first to show wear and tear: this is excellent.
We recommend having the hooks and eyes at the waist band re-aligned or replaced; they look strained, to us.
We photographed this with a crinoline for added fullness; the crinoline is not included.
The popularity for these patio outfits ran through the 1950s, into the 60s, and even a little beyond. We've estimated this as 1940s not only for the dolman sleeve and wing collar, but because of the quality of the cotton and trim, as well as the enormous sweep of the hem.
