Fabulous shabby chic classic Ransburg style cookie jar in a creamy ivory color glaze with pretty hand painted pastel daisies in red, blue, purple and pink
Ransburg produced stoneware cookie jars from the 1930s to the 1960s; we estimate this one to be toward the end of the 30s, into the early 1940s.
this is 9" to top of the rim, the lid adds a bit more height.
Pristine high gloss glaze interior, the exterior has a matte finish, rather than shiny one, and the flowers are practically untouched.
Condition: There is a fine hairline crack up under the neck of the inside of this about 1 3/8" long; it is impossible to see from the outside, and does not affect the structural integrity at all.
Over the years as we sell vintage to our clients, we've heard some wonderful stories of how they've incorporated vintage into their busy modern lives. One of our favorites, is from a dad who bought a vintage cookie jar for his (new) wife who was a wonderful baker, and they were expecting their first child. He wanted to continue (and start at the same time) a tradition of having a (vintage) cookie jar that looked similar to the one his grandmother used when he was a child, that was always full of wonderful home baked cookies. He wanted his child to share that same delight of seeing that cookie jar, and knowing it would be filled with treats made with love.
So sweet, right?
These are a really neat way to add a bit of vintage style to your kitchen...or office! or, we love to store kitty or puppy treats in cookie jars and vintage canisters, too ~adds a load of style for your laundry room, garage or potting shed!
this is heavy, so shipping expense is kind of crazy.
