This lovely padded lid dresser box is covered in a rich royal blue Oriental brocade with a design that includes a variety of trees (some are bamboo, others have heart-shaped leaves), pagodas, some beasts of burden (we can't tell if they're meant to be camels, or llamas) and a few people.
Colors: the royal blue background, with more lighter blues, pink, red and a golden yellow neutral.
This measures 7" across and is 2.25" high.
One of the interesting features of this box is that the interior is not just a big circle of space, it is divided into four outer sections around a circular center and all of these sections are topped with the same gorgeous brocade as the exterior. It is well done, and adds a ton of visual impact.
Condition: there is some child's handwriting on the bottom, in pencil, and we did find a small dark spot on the lid above the camels near the top; this doesn't show up readily because of the busy design, but we do want to mention it. We've added a close up image for you to inspect, and we ask that you try to find it on the full images: you'll see, it is quite hard to discern.
We've attributed this to the 1960s as Oriental brocades were quite popular in home furnishings as well as fashion at that time.
