Vintage Green and White Gingham Apron with Colorful Cross Stitch Embroidery Floral Border
We were fortunate to acquire a group of hand worked cross stitch embroidered aprons that appear to have never been worn.
They are lovely, classic aprons which were popular for many years making it difficult to date them. They are from the estate of a woman who got married in the early 1940s and did all kinds of handwork and crafts, so it could be from her early marriage years, or something she may have done later in life. We feel they are probably earlier than later, as she was a farm housewife who had three boys, and, honestly? who has time to embroider once that chaos has started?
The aprons are in a variety of sizes, a variety of designs, and a variety of colors.
We are pricing and selling these individually but are happy to combine to reduce shipping; we will discount for a multiple item order, too.
This apron features green and white gingham with a gathered waistband and a fabulous fancy floral design along the skirt in an array of colors: blue around the waist and near the hem, with red, dark pink, light pink and coral. Fancy!
Measurements:
Waistband is 1 and 3/16” wide
Top of apron skirt:21 and 5/8”
Across hem of skirt: 34”
Length from top of waistband to hem: 20.25” long
Ties: 4” wide x 33” long.
Freshly laundered ready to wear, in excellent condition. There is a point of interest (which some would consider a flaw, we consider it vintage personality) in that we noticed that the flower on the (wearer’s) left end is a combination of other colors similar to the others, but just a little bit different: we assume the embroiderer ran out of the dark pink light pink, so substituted in a dark coral color instead. It’s not readily visible, but once you know it, that’s what you see.
This is for this single green/white with fancy floral design apron: we are including images of some of the other aprons from this acquisition in case you're interested in more than one of them.
