HERE’S AN EXTREMELY COMPLEX 12 3/8” SIGNED AND DATED 1994 ORIGINAL VINTAGE HAND-THROWN AND PAINTED MODERN/POSTMODERN STUDIO ART POTTERY BOWL CREATED BY ARTIST SANDRA BLAIN THAT DISPLAYS AN INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR COMPLETELY COVERED IN A COLORFUL GRAFFITI-LIKE COMPOSITION OF SHAPES, LINES, DRAWINGS, SENTENCES, ABSTRACT PATTERNS, SYMBOLS, LAYERS OF GOLD LEAF, AMONG OTHER AESTHETIC DEVICES – ALL RENDERED IN WHAT APPEAR TO BE VARIOUS TYPES OF PAINTS RATHER THAN GLAZES!

Dimensions: The bowl measures approximately twelve and three eighths inches (12 3/8”) in diameter across the top, four and one eighth inches (4 1/8”) in height, by three and one half inches (3 1/2”) in diameter across the base.

Again, this exceptional studio art pottery bowl was throw on the wheel and then high fired to provide the artist with a hard, solid surface on which to create her graffiti-like painting. And again, it appears the artist employed various kinds of paint rather than glazes for all of the designs except the layers of gold leaf – which appear to be real gold leaf.

Signature: The bowl is twice signed. There is an incised pair of artist’s initials on the underside bottom “SB” Then there is a full artist’s signature and date rendered in black along the exterior bottom side wall area that appears to read “Sandra Blain 94” (please see the photographs shown above to make your own determination).

Condition: Generally excellent and clean condition with minor wear on the underside bottom rim where the bowl meets the counter. But overall, absolutely beautiful!
