Here for your consideration is a vintage pair of Early Toshikane Wheat Earrings made in Japan.
These earrings are quite old and very rare. I have checked with the few dealers who specialize in Toshikane or Arita porcelain pieces and none have ever seen the wheat motif.
These earrings are beautifully rendered in the yellow wheat on a gold background. Each has a green stem with red, yellow and gold highlights. These are screw backs on a silver base.
Both earrings are signed with an early Toshikane shield (w/ Japanese writing) and "JAPAN". Dimensions are 1-3/8” tall and 5/8” at the widest point.
The signification of wheat is love and charity. Wheat can signify the cycle of birth, life and death as well as rebirth in a lot of religions.
These rare earrings will make a wonderful addition to any Toshikane, Asian, silver, Japanese or porcelain jewelry collections.
