Antique Bailey, Banks & Biddle Sterling Silver Heart Shaped Box
This fantastic, little piece is an antique Bailey, Banks and Biddle, sterling silver, heart shaped box. The box is approximately 4.25 inches at its widest point, and a little under 2 inches in height when closed. The lid is secured to the rest of the box by two hinges. The top of the lid bears a magnificent, opulent design that resembles a coat of arms or a heraldic emblem. The design depicts a wreath with a crown surrounded by cornucopias, ribbons, and leaves. In the middle of the wreath is an engraving. Beneath the emblem, the date "March 18, 1901" is engraved on the box. Wrapping around the sides of the box are continuations of the motifs featured on the lid. The bottom of the box features markings reading "Sterling Patent", "The Bailey, Banks & Biddle Company", and "13t (?)". This is an adorable antique box, perfect for someone's dresser or nightstand, and great for holding jewelry.
