This book,, copyright 1868 is the "State of Illinois and the Universal Exposition of 1867...reported by John P Reynolds, delegate from the Illinois State Agricultural Society and Commissioner for the state..published by the State Journal Printing Office...this book is a very interesting report by John Reynolds..it is written in a personal style and easy to read, he goes into detail, sometimes even the time of day...he writes about the items from the state of Illinois that will be exhibited at the exposition, the problems he is having gathering them to ensure for a nice showing...he tells about his trip to New York, on the voyage to Paris and all the happenings while in Paris, at the Exposition and return trip...there is a fold out map of the exposition, also some illustrations..
hard back cover displays wear, corner bumps, top layer cover loss, wear to spine with very top & bottom spine missing, tears to material on the spine with some top cover loss...spine is still strong, all pages attached...book is complete, contains 134 pages....interior large fold out map has discolored edge spotting at top and discoloration to some folds (see photo 4) and a closed tear running up from spine area (see photo 5)...interior pages have a few small discolored spots and age toning ... title page having a closed tear at bottom, otherwise no other tears noted...first couple pages have an edge crease...the front map has made impressions in the first few pages......there is a discolored spot at the top of most of the pages(see 3rd photo) which gets very small, then gone, then back again...there are 2 illustrations that someone has painted with water color (see 9th photo of one)...inside back board and back blank pages have spotting/soiling...book measures 9" X 6"...great book you will enjoy reading..
