This book, Long Lance: the Autobiography of a Blackfoot Indian Chief, contains a history of the Blackfoot Indian in their struggles with the Creas, Sioux, Crows and Assinboines...copyright 1928, Published by Faber & Gwyer Limited of London...altho the book contains factual material, the author, who was a very interesting man, Chief Buffalo Child Long Lance, his name making you assume he was an Indian Chief and who assumed a Blackfoot heritage was actually not that at all....while growing up, he had many ambitions which would never have been able to be fulfilled with his heritage so he left his family and assumed the identity of an Indian, which he did very well ...thru his many endeavors to improve himself and his knowledge of the Native American culture, he was living a very accomplished life, accepted by all around him...this book was actually a best seller at the time, he became very well know...he even began to appear in movies at which time his real family heritage became known, he was rejected by all...in the time he was posing as an Indian, he was an advocate for Indian rights and accomplished many good things for the Indian people he represented...at the age of 42, he was found shot to death, all assuming it was suicide...

hard back cover displays fading, wear, spotting, corner bumps, page ends soiled... spine is strong, all pages attached...book is complete, contains 304 pages...interior pages display some spotting, light age toning, light soiling, a finger smudge here & there, no tears or creasing noted...book measures 8 1/4" X 5 1/2"...great book you will enjoy reading...
