Here is a pair of lovely Vintage French Shoe Buckles, c 1910 – 1920s.
Using excellent workmanship, the buckles are sewn with tiny cut steel seed beads with teeny tiny silver glass beads in the mix. These have a lot of shine that my camera could not capture – they are much more ‘glittery’ in real life!
Each buckle measures 2 ¼" by 2". They are in beautiful condition for their age. I note no missing beads, but the threads of two perimeter rows on one long side of one buckle needs reinforcement. They are lined at the back with ecru silk charmeuse satin. The backing of the same buckle that has the loose beads is shredded at one end. Back cross bar is stamped, ‘Made in France’
