In 1931, during the Great Depression, there was a need for an organization that could bring women together and expose them to a social, cultural and educational climate that was not available in those difficult times. Most important, there was a need for friendship and support from other women. Beta Sigma Phi was created out of this need. A wonderful non-academic sorority which is still active today.
This Vintage Sterling bracelet is loaded with Sterling Silver heart shaped charms. The charms from this non-academic sorority were collected for nineteen consecutive years!
Dates starting at 1956 through to 1974. (See photos) We believe they are all sterling (per the original owner) although not all are marked as such. We have little doubt as 8 are clearly marked and the others are identical in color and shape, etc. The bracelet chain is also Sterling and marked as such on the jump ring closure. Measuring approx. 7" long end to end.
A number of the little hearts have tiny gem colored glass stones at the top of the heart.
Great vintage piece for members of this sorority or anyone that enjoys heart motif jewelry.
