Magnificent, minty, 1950s black felt circle skirt; appliqued with pink velvet vines and flower buds in size small. Measurements in inches: waist 23, hip free and length 30 inches. FULL circle and then some.
It is spectacular!
Made for Alex Colman of California circa 1955. Midnight black wool felt circle skirt is simply stunning. There is a dramatic swoop of pink velvet applique across the front. The vines, leaves and flower buds run diagonally from hip to just above the hem. This is a high end cotton velvet.
The largest leaves and buds are done in trapunto technique. So they are puffy; just the right amount of 3-D effect. The leaves are also cut out in the centers for more amazing contrast.
The hemline is finished with pink velvet piping. Skirt has a narrow waistband, side metal zipper and button closure. Skirt is unlined.
This has been dry cleaned and came back in minty condition. No holes, moth bites, weak seams, or loose stitching around the applique work. Really wonderful. There are some very slight marks along the hem from storage in newspaper. Very slight and another cleaning should remove them entirely. They show upon very close inspection.
This is fabulous and will require Priority Mail shipping due to the weight. Part of insurance is covered in this cost.
