This very early Vera Neumann silk scarf has hand painted accents on blue roses and, it is rare. It is exquisite.
Measurements in inches: 22 x 22 inches. Made between 1947 - 1955. 1947 to mid-1950s: The earliest scarves were signed "vera" in a very small print. All the letters were lowercase. This is an example of one of the first Vera scarves the artist produced. It was not until the late 1950s that the Vera signature had an uppercase "V".
This is head or neck size and is PERFECT to frame. A stunning statement of Mid Century Art.
Wonderful headscarf is pure, wispy silk with a white center, pink band and shades of blue roses and leaves. There are white hand painted accents throughout.
Even the Vera signature is gorgeous! A rare find.
The label is : SCARVES by Vera, Pat. Pending, PURE SILK, Hand Rolled.
Very clean, vivid colors and in beautiful condition. There are a couple of small stresses but, not from wear. It appears it is still in it's original factory folds.
