Vintage men's car mechanic shop coat, by Parker UF Houston. Size Small, chest 40, waist 40, hip 44, sleeve from shoulder to cuff 34-1/2, across upper back 18 and, length from centerback to hem 45 inches.
Circa 1950, this 100% tan cotton coat used by a mechanic or car repairman. Long coat with split collar has set in sleeves.
Three front patch pockets, 5 button front (I believe these have been replaced.) Buttons are held in place with pins so they could be removed for laundry purposes.
Embroidered patch on the front for JIM. I believe this name patch is newer than the coat itself. Likely a hand-me-down coat.
Side seams have finished split openings for access to worker's pants pockets. Center back slit for ease of movement. Self fabric belt in the back with button.
Label is UF Parker. There are some cleaning tags and some stamped words to identify the company for the industrial laundry business. The only word I can make out is "clinic".
Perfect for film, stage productions. Heads up to costume designers! Great for a classic car collector.
Good condition with no weak seams, tears or odors. This was used when someone was working on cars for a business and it shows in:
Several light stains that did not come out in the wash. Two are about 4 X 4 inches. Several others vary from pea size to 1/2 inch. There is some green paint on the backside of one sleeve. If this is car paint I doubt it will come out in the wash.
Cuff hems show light fray. Bottom hem shows more fray on back of one side and several tiny holes in that area.
Not in mint condition. But, the fabric is strong, color is great and it could be worn with no problem.
