Vintage 1930s - 1940s sewing pattern for a ball or wedding gown, evening dress, bust 34, Simplicity 3421.
Sewing Pattern Ball, Wedding Gown Evening Dress Bust 34 Simplicity 3421.
This is a printed sewing pattern for a floor length gown. Perfect for weddings, proms or formal event.
One piece, floor length gown has short sleeves. They are gathered high at the cap and can be gathered to the cuff for extra fullness or, made with tucks at the cuff.
Square neckline (so flattering, ) can be trimmed with bias binding or rows of dainty lace. Bodice and skirt are gathered to a wide, double inverted, waist yoke, for a corset effect. WONDERFUL!
A very full, floor length skirt is done with EIGHT gores. It can be trimmed along the seams of the gores with lace to match the bodice. The plaid version is unadorned and uses contrasting fabric for the faux cummerbund.
I've only had this pattern one other time in the last 15 years. I would put it on the rare side of a pattern collection.
A reflection of fashion style, that became popular after the movie GONE WITH THE WIND was released in 1939.
Printed pattern is complete with instructions for choosing fabric, laying out the pattern, cutting, sewing and finishing the garments shown on the envelope. The tissue pieces are in above excellent condition.
The envelope shows significant wear.
