This 1970s Unique Lucite necklace is an Ultra Mod design and one of several from an estate treasure trove. It measures 15 inches end to end. The center piece is 3-1/2 x 2-3/4 inches and is about 1/4 inch thick. The woven rayon cord is light weight and allows the perfect drape to the the Lucite centerpiece.
While this necklace post dates Mid Century Modern by a decade it would fit wonderfully with a Mid Century Collection.
A true example of Mod Design, the centerpiece is not perfectly symmetrical. It is molded in one piece and is slightly domed so it will lay perfectly. The plastic is not stark white; rather a shade towards antique white. It is an abstract design that is not a symbol of anything I remember from the 70s.
The soft, woven, lightweight cord is dove gray and the findings are gold a/o brass tone metal. The closure is also unique. It is a barrel clasp and a bit higher end than usually found in 1970s costume jewelry.
A great piece from an entirely unique estate. This lady collected great plastic and unusual wood jewelry. A few more examples are listed in the shop.
