This wood and brass necklace is a one of a kind hand carved piece circa 1970 OOAK. It is wonderful. Measurements: 14-1/2 inches end to end, shaped wood centerpiece is 5 inches across and is about 1-1/2 inch thick at the middle. It is meant to sit at the hollow of the throat.
Hand carved and hand polished center is made from one piece of wood. Distinctive piece of wood makes this a one of a kind. The wood in a crescent shape tapers perfectly. It is hand carved spiral design and, is accented with a fine, brass wire. This wire is embedded into the carving.
The wood is quite lightweight. It shows natural grain and color variation. It is beautiful.
The wood is attached to twisted, black rayon cord. The cord is strong and very fluid. All caps, and metal connecting components are either brass or a silver tone metal that has been oxidized. A strong barrel clasp was used for closure.
I believe this is American or European made. It does not appear to be an ethnic piece. I believe this is a hard to find piece. It is amazing. From a great estate, just purchased. I will be listing more unique items from this estate in the coming months.
Condition is above excellent to mint, noting some oxidation of the meal caps. No damage or signs of wear.
