Sterling butterfly pin enamel guilloche by David Anderson of Norway circa 1955. Measurements in inches: 1-1/2 inches X 7/8 inches.
Shades of rich gold, gorgeous turquoise and black are layered in beautiful enamel work. The color is done in layers over the texture beneath. This texture, under the enamel is very, very detailed. So, the wings are very, lifelike. One would think a real butterfly were held in time!
It is signed Sterling 925 S, the Andersen mark used after 1955 and NORWAY. Marks are carefully researched.
The butterfly is framed in sterling that once had a gold wash. If polished, the gold would come off so, I have left it up to the buyer to decide whether or not to polish the silver. As is, it is wonderful. Details show beautifully.
Some fuzz from my background fabric show in the photographs. Note again: I have not polished the metal.
