The field is yellow. There is a small, all-over floral print in black, gray and turkey red. Note: the gray tone is achieved by having part of the block, used to print the pattern, carved deeper in some areas. (the first picture best represents the color on my monitor) Mint condition. Iconic print.
This is a very, very tiny print. The blossoms of the flowers are 1/16th of an inch across. There is a coin in the pictures for size perspective. Variations of this print have been done over the years. This is all original, over 100 years old and in mint condition.
An early machine loomed fabric, this cotton calico is part of an important textile collection.
The material has a tight weave, and unpolished finish It has it's original "sizing". Washing will soften the fabric somewhat. It has medium weight, is firm and smooth. It washes very well.
It is MINT, clean, ready to use. There may be a slight odor of moth balls. It has been carefully stored for many decades. Color will need to be "set" before using. It's easy to do and I will include instructions with your order.
For a textile collector this is a special find. For a quilter or quilt restorer, this fabric is the ULTIMATE!
It is from the estate of a life long quilter and textile collector. In 35 years I have never seen such a wide range of material and textiles. It has been wonderful going through this woman's collection.
If you EVER wanted to have historically correct colors in your "new", quilt or clothing, to dress your antique doll, or home furnishings this is the fabric for you. It would be a wonderful addition to a collector's portfolio of important textiles.
