This is a wonderful, color antique print of a woman driving car by Maud Stumm from 1908, in a walnut frame. It is a large size. The entire piece measurement 11 inches X 13-1/2 inches. The print, on heavy paper, fits perfectly in the wood frame.
Done in 1908 this Chromolithograph is a wonderful look back at women's history.
Beautiful woman, dressed in a red "duster coat" hat and veil, drives a car. Car and clothing are circa 1900. I believe this may have been a calendar top as the paper is quite heavy and the subject so specific. Maybe this was one of the first Pin Up Calendars!
I don't know if the artist intended to make the automobile or, the woman the central theme of the work. However, take into consideration the woman is dressed in flamboyant RED and the artist's first name is Maud.
Print is framed under glass, in a solid walnut frame. So, the entire piece weighs a bit and will require sturdy, heavy packing for safe arrival. The postage reflects this, as it must be sent Priority Mail which will cover part of the insurance cost. Price is determined by the postal service.
Print condition is very good. Color is excellent. There are 3 slight bends to the print. Two in the upper right hand corner and one in the lower right hand corner. I have pictured these. They do not break through the heavy paper but; they are there.
Frame is excellent. Back paper was removed long ago. Pictures show exactly how the piece was found.
Insurance is required due to the glass. Priority Mail delivery covers part of the insurance cost.
