Snapette button closure with reverse carved Lucite leaf; HTF, hard to find from the late 1930s to mid 1940s. Near mint measurements: Button front: 1-1/4 inch X 1-3/8 inch. Stands out in 3-D about 1/4 inch.
Chain is 3 inches long and is meant to drape between the button front and the back snap closure.
Two piece button closure features a reverse carved clear Lucite leaf held in a gold tone metal frame. The gold tone metal leaf at the top has vines curling on either side. Receiving snap is on the back.
The chain attaches to a gold tone metal snap that clips securely to the back of the front piece. The chain is meant to drape between the two pieces. It holds perfectly.
These fancy button closures were all the rage in the late 1930s into the late 1940s. They were used on capes, jackets and coats to add some Snazzy adornment to a garment. These pieces are relatively rare to find now.
Lucite shows no wear. Minor scratching to the gold tone finish on the leaf. I believe you could have these buffed out if they bother. Expected patina to the brass.
If you collect buttons or need a special closure on a vintage or modern jacket this is perfect for you.
