Black bakelite belt slide sewing notion from the 1940s, mint on original card.
Resin washed, carved Bakelite. 2-1/2 inches across, and about 1/4 inch thick. Carved from one solid piece, with no seaming and, polished to a a satin gloss. I believe it is Bakelite. There are no seams. It is dense and weighty. The back is smooth as satin.
Card reads: Ultra Craft. There is a store sticker on the back from : C.C. Anderson's (Golden Rule Store) a general store chain that was in Idaho and Oregon from the turn of the century to the early 60s.
Black Bakelite does not respond to simichrome when it has been coated. A hot water test is not possible. This is mint and lovely.
Use as a slide on a belt, scarf or ribbon. Ideal for sewing projects, DIY creations and a great main piece for a jewelry brooch collage.
