From the 1930s - 1940s this homemade rag doll is 14 inches long. Sweet old fashioned, antique style lady doll.
Lovingly made soft body doll has embroidered features and black embroidered hair. Made to imitate a china head doll, she is a lady. Detail stitching on her face is excellent.
Head and torso are separate pieces. Arms and legs separately attached.
The body is made from cotton muslin and stuffed with cotton (I think). The stuffing is dense and very fully done.
The long dress is made from 100% cotton in a teeny, tiny green and white check. The fabric of dress is crisp, clean and looks never to have been "processed".
Her necklace is made from tiny white glass beads with the ends finished with tube beads.
Basic construction was done using a sewing machine. Finish details on the doll and the dress are hand done.
Never played with. She is is mint condition. The work is excellent. Age is determined by materials used and the other items she was packed with. Most items in this box date from the mid 30s to late 1940s.
She comes from a great estate of a mother and daughter who collected textiles. Their collection spans 100 years of materials, fabrics, lace, ribbons and linens. More items are listed under textiles in my shop.
Just a few dolls in the collection. Mostly textiles.
