1940s Sheer Long Sleeved Striped Blouse Size Small - Medium. Circa 1947, this sheer blouse is in beautiful condition. It is an iconic example of Post WWII fashion.
Meant to be worn loose with a bloused silhouette. Measurements in inches:
Bust up to 36, waist up to 32, across upper back 15, sleeve from shoulder to hem is 23-1/2 inches (sleeves are also meant to be bloused) Center back to hem 21 and shoulder to hem 20 inches.
Unlined blouse is made from sheer rayon with a black and white stripe, black collar, placket front and cuffs. Button front closure. buttons are small black plastic with rhinestone settings. The waist button is a small round apple juice Bakelite. It will not show when worn and is an intentional utilitarian button.
There are no bust line darts. Short length of gathers at the shoulders and darts at the waist line both front and back. Note again: this is supposed to be worn loose and bloused.
Sleeves are softly gathered at the cap. They are gathered to the black band at the wrist and have a rhinestone enhanced button. They too are meant to be bloused.
This blouse is from my collection. It originally had small shoulder pads, which I removed. It looks wonderful worn with a black slip.
Clean and carefully kept. No odor or signs of significant wear. From a smoke free, pet free home.
