1940s Sterling Coro Black Cameo Brooch Victorian Revival measures approximately 1-3/8th inch x 1 inch. Gold over Sterling Silver aka Vermeil. In the Victorian Era this would have been a mourning brooch. In the late 40's it was a wonderful revival of a classic.
NOTE: There is some red reflection in the pictures. This metal is GOLD colored with black highlights.
The molded black plastic cameo has great weight and excellent detail. The woman's bust, facing left, has flowers and ribbons in her hair, and a double strand necklace.
The metal is sterling with a gold wash; aka vermeil. It presents as gold. The frame has black details in the design. The bezel is saw tooth and very strong. It holds the cameo up above the decorated background.
The back is stamped STERLING and has the older Coro mark as well.
Rotating knuckle clasp works well. There is some wear to the gold showing the dark sterling beneath. Please, see all the pictures and send any questions.
