Albert CRESWELL (1862-1936) French School c1920
A charming painting of a woman leaning against a fence set against an ethereal landscape. Many of Creswell’s paintings featured pixies and have a delicacy and softness which particularly suited this genre. Signed bottom right and presented in its original highly decorative frame with mistletoe motif.
Creswell studied painting under some of the best landscape artists of his time; Boulanger,Lefebvre and Merson. He received an honourable mention in the Salon of 1892 followed by a Bronze medal in 1907. The Museum of Fine Arts in Paris holds examples of his work in their collection.
