Vintage, Kuchi, prayer tube pendant from Afghanistan. This tribal pendant is created from a white metal of unknown alloy and is decorated with glass cabochons and dangle charms. Prayer box pendants of this sort usually open and a prayer or verses from the Koran would be placed inside for safe keeping. It is in remarkably good condition for a vintage item of this sort. There is a definite patina which is consistent with the age of this item, and there is some minor denting on the body of the pendant. One should never expect perfection with this type of tribal jewelry. It is made by primitive people under primitive circumstances. There will often be mismatched cabochons or dangles, dents, scratches and imperfections and this should be considered the norm rather than the exception. It measures 10x10cm.
