A 19th-Century French figural fox animal steel and oak cleaver or chopper. The handle forms the tail of the fox. It is a beautiful example of French Folk Art, a hand crafted piece. Often these cleavers were wedding gifts because they were not only beautiful to display, but they were also utilitarian and functional. They were used primarily to dice herbs. These lovely old choppers are very difficult to find.
