An 18th-century Delft shallow dish with a hand painted floral design in the traditional cobalt blue and white colors of Holland. It is finished with a lovely yellow edge and has an old pierced hole for hanging. Antique Delft plates like this one often had a hole pierced in them before firing so that a string could be strung through and tied in a knot on the front of the plate. A loop would be tied on the back of the plate, and it could be hung on a wall. The piercing adds charm and character to this beautiful 200+ year old ceramic Delft ware!
Excellent condition, light edge fritting associated with antique Delft ware.
