Early 20th century bronze sculpture of a rottweiler dog mounted on a marble plinth. We estimate the age to be circa 1910. It is Continental, probably French. The talented artist has captured the dog's muscular stance with superb detail. It would make a fine addition to a dog enthusiast's collection or a lovely gift.
Rottweilers were originally bred to drive cattle to market, later they were used to pull carts for butchers. Among the earliest police and security dogs, they also serve with honor in the military. They are popular as family guardians and friends.
