A superb 18th-Century / early 19th-Century Dutch Delft plate with Chinese figure. The figure is called 'Lange Lijs' or Long Eliza decoration and is based on Chinese porcelain examples. It is hand molded and painted with a chinoiserie design with a figure, gate, tree and surrounded with a floral and foliate motif. Tin glazed faience, this fine quality plate has an orange border. The maker's mark verso is De Porceleyne Bijl, active from 1657 - 1803.
