A 19th-Century hand carved Swiss spaniel or retriever inkwell and pen tray. The dog is behind a carved log which is the pen tray. His head lifts to reveal a ceramic inkwell. The piece is finely carved, the dog's coat and expressive face is superb. His mouth is open as he appears to greet his master. Note the paws - they are exquisitely carved. The dog has glass eyes. The piece is signed; I have not yet found any information on the signature. I have not seen another one this of this fine quality.
Dimensions: 8.25" Width x 5.75" Depth x 3.75" Height.
Condition: Very good, it appears to be in super condition.
