An antique Victorian era hand made and hand painted tile by George Cartlidge. The tile is embossed on the reverse by the maker, Sherwin & Cotton.
It is Circa 1890 - 1900 and depicts a terrier dog portrait. It is framed with curly maple, the original frame and is a rare find. George Cartlidge - Trained at Hanley School of Art (1878) and taught art before working for Sherwin & Cotton (1882-1900) and then setting up his own company Adams & Cartlidge (Ltd.).
