A 19th-Century hand thrown large pippin bowl from England. It is unglazed pottery on the outside and glazed on the inside of the bowl. You can see and feel the rings inside from the hand throwing. These bowls are called pippin bowls because they were used to hold pippin apples. They were also used as dough bowls and for washing the dishes and the baby! We have not had one of these beauties in a long time! It is lovely on a kitchen island or table filled with fruit.
